A Changed Life
When I first came to Hartford Rescue Mission, I was struggling with
alcoholism. Now I've been sober for over one year. I liked coming,
but really didn't understand the program. I basically came for the
meals.
I didn't have a stove because I would get drunk and leave it on,
burning up my food. On one occasion, I got drunk and almost set the
house on fire. It was at that point the stove was taken away for
six months. I was not a responsible person at all.
I still come to the Mission. I am not homeless, but now I come
for the devotions and fellowship. The Mission is run very orderly.
There is no cursing, swearing or bad behavior allowed. I feel safe
here.
The daily devotions at the Mission help me to understand God's
love. I am now growing spiritually and I go to church regularly.
Things are moving in my life now. I've got clothes and things for good hygiene at the Mission. It's a good place to come to.
I really like "Friday Night Movies." Every Friday night, the Mission plays a DVD move on a big screen TV. I don't like hanging around on the corner, so I come here. I'm now trying to get my high school diploma. This will help me with my recovery. I thank God for Hartford Rescue Mission.
